VOLUNTEER POLICY
By registering with Edmonton Humahumanakanakapaua Swim Club, you agree to fulfill associated volunteer commitments.
HUMA is a volunteer-run organization that depends on the support of parents, swimmers, family members, etc. to operate successfully. Coaches are the only paid roles within the club — everything else depends on volunteers. As a member club of the Alberta Summer Swimming Association (ASSA), we are required to provide a minimum number of officials at meets throughout the season. It takes 70 - 100 volunteers to make a swim meet run smoothly. In addition, HUMA hosts one of the meets each year, which requires all hands on deck.
Swim meet officiating is our highest volunteer need as it is an ASSA requirement. There are roles suited for individuals new to the sport (such as timers), as well as roles that require more training, experience, and a deeper understanding of competitive swimming (such as stroke and turn judges). There are minimum volunteer requirements in this area as outlined in the registration package.
Beyond meet officiating, HUMA also needs volunteer support for internal events and ongoing club operations throughout the season. This year, we are expanding our volunteer structure by introducing a few lead volunteer roles and general volunteer positions to
strengthen our operations and improve efficiency. Some roles require only a brief orientation, while others involve ongoing participation and greater responsibility.
Our goal is to provide meaningful, manageable volunteer opportunities for everyone. When families contribute their time, it ensures a positive experience for all swimmers and helps keep our club strong.
Our Volunteer Coordinator will be reaching out to all families via email in the coming weeks regarding volunteering with HUMA. In the meantime if you have any questions regarding volunteering with HUMA, please do not hesitate to reach out to our Volunteer Coordinator, Graham Currie.
We look forward to volunteering alongside you!
Casino Obligation

- A volunteer commitment fee of $500 will be charged to a family's account for failure to meet the casino obligation.
Volunteer Obligations

- A complete list of volunteers for each event will be emailed and posted on HUMA's website once finalized.
- A volunteer commitment of $500 will be charged to a family's account for failure to meet the volunteer obligation.
